Music
St. Michael's three distinct Sunday services reflect diverse expressions in music. All three services encourage congregational singing. Our early service prefers stillness and chant. The mid-morning service is led by Coro de Luz and offers a folk sound using the Gather hymnal. The late service led by the Chancel Choir features a choir with piano or organ, music from several hymnals and from 500 years of sacred music.
Both Coro de Luz and Chancel Choir are welcoming new and returning members.
We are also looking for people interested in learning to chant and to lead chant.
Please let Pauleta Hendrickson, Minister of Music, know if you are interested in any of our musical
opportunities.

Coro de Luz |
Chancel Choir |
The Coro de Luz ensemble includes a dedicated cadre of voices supported by additional instruments that are plucked, picked, bowed, shaken, blown or tapped. Our mission is to support our singing congregation and its enjoyment of musical worship. Tunes out of the Gather Hymnal are standard.
Coro de Luz rehearses Thursday evenings at 7:00 pm and sings at 9:30a service on Sundays. |
Instrumentalists and singers young and old are welcome to join us in rendering a more diverse, classical sacred repertoire from baroque to romantic to modern, from Gospel to contemporary, including works by David McGuire, our resident composer. No audition necessary; music reading helpful.
The Chancel Choir rehearses Wednesday evenings at 7:00 and leads singing at the 11:30a service on Sundays. |
Entourage Jazz, led by parishioner Emerson Corley,
