WHO WE ARE

ST. MICHAEL & ALL ANGELS CHURCH

St. Michael & All Angels Church is a faith community committed to the life in Christ as it is experienced in prayer, worship, learning and service. As a socially progressive community, we welcome people of all sorts, regardless of their religious affiliation, race, gender, sexual orientation, class, age or any other distinction. Located in the North Valley of Albuquerque, New Mexico, we are surrounded by a diversity of cultures and people whom we embrace as our neighbors.

The parish is affiliated with the Episcopal Church, which is the American branch of the world-wide Anglican Communion. The origins of this global fellowship are in the tradition of English-speaking Christianity ("Anglicanism") in the British Isles, but the church has adapted to local cultures and regions in a multitude of expressions. In our case, we are part of the Diocese of the Rio Grande, which includes all of New Mexico and Texas west of the Pecos. The Anglican tradition has both Catholic and Protestant elements, which means that people from many different backgrounds often find a home in its fellowship.

St. Michael's is a place where people are encouraged to bring their questions, their hopes, their doubts, their joys, and their troubles so that together we can seek to live courageously, generously, and confidently into the hope to which God calls us. The congregation has a deep contemplative core, an enthusiasm for the spiritual life, a passion for our New Mexican setting, and a heart committed to the service of others, in Albuquerque and beyond.

We hope that you will join us, to experience something of the spirit of joy in Christ and solidarity with one another that makes St. Michael's the unique place that it is!
