Our Clergy.

The Very Rev. Canon Doug Travis, Supply Clergy

The Very Rev. Canon Douglas Travis, D.Min., is the Canon for Formation and Education and the Dean of the Bishop’s School for Ministry in the Episcopal Diocese of the Rio Grande. He is also the Dean and President Emeritus of the Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest in Austin, Texas where he served for seven years. Prior to that Doug served four parishes, two of them as rector (head priest).

A member of Phi Beta Kappa, Dr. Travis holds four earned graduate degrees, including an M.A. from the University of Chicago Divinity School where he studied Christian mysticism, a S.T.M. in Spiritual Direction from the Center for Christian Spirituality at The General Theological Seminary, and a D.Min. from Perkins School of Theology at SMU where Doug focused on the pursuit of Christian maturity. In 2008 Doug’s alma mater, The General Theological Seminary in New York, granted him an honorary doctorate.

Doug and his wife, Pam, have been married for 39 years. Pam is an attorney with the Environmental Protection Agency and lives in Dallas, Texas. They have two adult daughters. Sasha is an actor in Los Angeles, California and Nyssa is a psychotherapist living in Austin, Texas.
