Godly Play Training – Old Testament Stories

St. Michael and All Angels Saturday, Aug. 7th 2010 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
There are lots of things you can learn from a book or lecture, but Godly Play has to be learned from the inside out. Sherolyn Browning, a Godly Play Certified Instructor, will offer a one-day training at St. Michael and All Angels focused on the Old Testament object boxes that are part of the core Godly Play Program. In addition participants will deepen their understanding of children’s spirituality and how to create and care for the learning environment. The training takes place in a prayerful atmosphere of give and take with talented creative Godly Play teachers and those interested in learning more about Godly Play. Participants will gain greater clarity about the fundamentals of Godly Play, teaching the Old Testament stories, and leave the training sessions spiritually refreshed. Training fee $75.00 (lunch included) scholarships available based on need. Registration Deadline July 26th. To register for the training or for additional information please contact Ellen venovak@comcast.net.

ReImagine

The ReImagine Core Team has been meeting monthly, studying scripture and writings about the Eucharist. We have been deepening relationships with one another as we prepare to take our next steps. Our process centers on three questions:
1. Who are we as the community of St. Michael's?
2. Where is God calling us into ministry as a faith community?
3. How will we take action in response to that call?
The process is not about the Core Team, but about the entire congregation telling stories, listening for God's call, and growing more deeply into the community that God calls us to be. To that end, we are inviting everyone at St. Michael's to be part of the process. Dorotheos of Gaza used the image of a wheel to show that our lives and our life in God is intricately connected. God is the center of the wheel and people are the spokes. As we move closer to God, we move closer to one another and vice versa.
We are beginning a Season of Listening at St. Michael's. We will spend June and July inviting individuals to sit down together in one-on-one conversations about your experience at St. Michael's: what it means to you, what your hopes are, and where you sense God calling this congregation. You will be invited to sit down for 30-45 minutes with someone to share your stories together. It is not an interview, but a chance for two people to speak from personal experience.
We want to be clear that you are NOT being recruited for anything. You will NOT be asked for money. We simply want to invite you to join us in this process of ReImagining the St. Michael's community.
If you have questions or would like to know more, please contact Sue Joiner (sjoiner@samaritancc.com, 332-8020) or Christopher McLaren (christopherm@all-angels.com, 345-8147).
We'll look forward to talking with you!
